A Study on the Evolution of Front Cyclone Theory and Its Relations with Weather Forecast Practice

  • The basic concepts of frontal cyclone, which emerged in the late 19th century, and the polar front theory, which came from the Bergen School in the early 20th century, are comprehensively reviewed in this paper. The discovery and continuous development of the Norwegian cyclone model were resulted from the weather forecast practice and field work in meteorological research. It ultimately formatted meteorology as a kind of sciences.
