Urban Meteorological Disaster Management in Shanghai

  • Under global climate change and rapid urbanization, the impacts of urban meteorological disaster is getting more sever, and the characteristics and evolution process are different from the historic meteorological disasters. Shanghai has put forward the vision becoming one of the "global city" in 2016, therefore, challenges and opportunities coexist in the respect of risk reduction of urban meteorological disaster. This paper introduces the urban meteorological disaster risk, risk assessment and management in Shanghai with 5 cases which has been practised by Shanghai Meteorological Service, and proposes some considerations for future risk reduction.
